James Bond 007 Biography
Thursday, October 25, 2012
The name is Bond .... James Bond and he is licensed to thrill since he first appeared on the big screen in Dr. No (1962). What can you really say about a fictional character who is introduced to us on film through the view of a gun barrel !!! .... and a musical theme that is dramatic dangerous and full of suspense ! .... No matter your level of Cinephilia (passionate interest in cinema) ... there is hardly anyone living on this planet (who has access to electricity) .... who has never heard of James Bond, 007, licensed to kill super spy .... or cannot recognize the distinctive tune that announces a Bond moment ! This year is the 50th anniversary of the movie franchise, based on the fictional character created by British journalist and novelist Ian Fleming in 1953.
Skyfall is the twenty-third spy film in the Eon Productions, James Bond series, produced for MGM, Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Skyfall starring Daniel Craig (the first blonde 007) premiered on 23 October 2012,and is set to be released in the United Kingdom today on 26 October 2012. The film's release will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the series, which began with Dr. No in 1962. The India release is slated for 1 November 2012 and the first reviews of the premiere has already annointed it the best Bond film ever !!
So we at Delhi Style Blog decided to capture the legend in a snapshot of facts that every Bond aficionado should know about .... and let us tell you .... the amount of material available on the net is so vast and scattered that we are glad we started researching 5 days ago ... but at the end of it we can pretty much guarantee that if someone is stuck on anything James Bond related on Kaun Banega Crorepati (Who Wants To Be A Millionaire).... Delhi Style Blog should be your unquestioned Phone - A - Friend :D ... so here he is ... the epitome of what every male wants to be ... but not allowed by the state, government, mother, wife and girlfriend :P hahahahaha :D
Name : James Bond ( if you want to know how he got his name, read here ), in short he is named after a real life American ornithologist( one who spies on birds and hence are "bird" experts ... hahahaha ... Bond is a spy and he is a "bird" expert of the female variety, how apt !! )
Agent/Spy Name : Agent 007 ( As far back as Elizabethan times, the 00 symbol resembling a pair of eyes ... on a document ... signified it was top secret. It meant ‘For your eyes only’. A double O prefix was also used by the German intelligence service during World War 1. "00" (Double Oh) designation are given to the agents in the James Bond series who are licensed to kill; Bond himself is famously agent 007.
( all you spy lovers can read more about 00 agents here )
007 : License to kill is a literary device used in espionage fiction. It refers to the official sanction by a government or government agency ... to a particular operative or employee ... where it is signified by the "00" (Double Oh) designation .. to initiate the use of lethal force in the delivery of their objectives.
Mandatory retirement age from the 00 section is 45, James Bond was 38 when he got his License to Kill.

To commemorate 50 years of James Bond, we have compiled a list of the top 5 tracks from the 23 Bond movies, we have put up all 23 on You Tube :) ( James Bond 50 years Playlist )
1. Skyfall - Adele 2012
Skyfall is where we start
A thousand miles and poles apart
Where worlds collide and days are dark
You may have my number, you can take my name
But you’ll never have my heart
Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
At Sky Fall
2. Die Another Day - Madonna 2002
I'm gonna break the cycle
I'm gonna shake up the system
I'm gonna destroy my ego
I'm gonna close my body now
Uh, uh
I think I'll find another way
There's so much more to know
I guess I'll die another day
It's not my time to go
3. The World is Not Enough - Garbage 1999 The world is not enough
But it is such a perfect place to start...my love
And if you're strong enough
Together we can take the world apart...my love
4. Tomorrow Never Dies - Sheryl Crow 1997
Darling I'm killed
I'm in a puddle on the floor
Waiting for you to return
Oh what a thrill,
Fascinations galore
How You tease, how you leave me to burn
It's so deadly my dear
The power of wanting you near
Until that day,
Until the world falls away
Until you say there'll be no more good-bye's
I see it in your eyes,
Tomorrow never dies
5. Golden Eye - Tina Turner 1995 ( our most fav Bond song :)
See reflections on the water
More than darkness in the depths
See him surface and never a shadow
On the wind I feel his breath Golden eye, I found his weakness
Golden eye, he'll do what I please
Golden eye, no time for sweetness
But a bitter kiss will bring him to his knees
You'll never know how I watched you from the shadows as a child
You'll never know how it feels to be the one who's left behind
You'll never know the days and nights, the tears, the tears I've cried
But now my time has come and time, time is not on your side
See him move through smoke and mirrors
Feel his presence in the crowd
Other girls they gather around him
If I had him I wouldn't let him out
Golden eye, not lace or leather
Golden chain take him to the spot
Golden eye, I'll show him forever
It'll take forever to see what I've got
You'll never know how I watched you from the shadows as a child
You'll never know how it feels to get so close and be denied
It's a gold and honey trap I've got for you tonight
Revenge is a kiss this time I won't miss
Now I've got you in my sight
With a golden eye
Golden, golden eye
With a golden eye, golden eye
6. James Bond theme from Dr. No 1962 ( first Bond film :)
In
his house in Jamaica, called "Golden Eye", author Ian Fleming,
himself an ex spy, used to write 1,000 words in the morning ..... then go
snorkelling, have a cocktail, lunch on the terrace, more diving, another 1,000
words in late afternoon .... then down more martinis and hob nob with glamorous
women .... it is not too hard to imagine where his inspiration for James Bond
came from !! Over the course of 22 films until Skyfall, at least 4,662 shots
have been fired at Bond, along with 130 other attempts to kill our hero .... on
the other hand, Bond has killed 198 villains so far .... mostly with his
trusted Walther PPK gun (Hitler was found dead after having shot
himself with a Walther PPK 7.65mm, the very same kind of gun that became James
Bond’s signature weapon) ... he has successfully seduced more than 40 women and
three quarters of them has tried to kill him ... lol... but Bond still survives
and returns with style with the latest babe, booze and bad in Skyfall in
exactly 7 days from now, in Delhi ... until then, look out for more dits on our
favourite super spy as we celebrate his 50th birthday :)
