Fashion is a game for the fickle ... trends come and go from season to season ... but there are some that transcends the ephemeral merry go round of fashion media diktats ... like wearing red during the Christmas season .... the little black dress for all seasons ... the pretty paisleys from our Indian heritage that we wear year after year ... generation after generation ... or animal prints that never seem to go out of style !! There is a certain oomph about leopard prints in particular that makes it an eternal staple of a fashionistas closet . Vogue ... the ultimate fashion bible, has chronicled leopard print as a style statement , on its covers no less, ..... since 1939 !! Have a look at the covers we have rounded up from 1939 to 2011 !!




We at Delhi Style Blog happened to be in London in September for London Fashion Week ... and we were amazed at the amount of leopard prints we saw in the highstreet shops while shopping !! Topshop, River Island, Forever 21, Uniqlo, Miss Selfridges, Primark ... almost all of them had major leopard prints for this autumn. Back home in Delhi, a few days back ... S had her favourite internet radio station ( Pro FM.ro) blaring in the background ... and an old extremely hummable song came on .... Shania Twain’s ... “That Don’t Impress Me Much” ... we sang along to every line as girlfriends do when they get silly ... and when the song ended ... we put it on You Tube to refresh our memory ... and Voila !!! ... there was Shania in her leopard print hooded cape, leopard print trousers, leopard print boots and matching leopard print luggage !!! Remember that vid from 1998 ?



 Then and there, we decided that we gotta do a leopard print shoot !! So we roped in a close pal of ours, whose wardrobe we know verrrry intimately (read borrow all the time heheheh) ... because she already had a fabulous leopard print trouser which she rocks like a diva :D .... Infact if you have been following us since our first post .... you will remember her instantly as the lady in red from our post on Vogue's Fashion's Night Out Delhi :)

For those of you who follow Fashion Week trends ... leopard prints was first spotted this year on Vogue US editor in chief Anna Wintour, the queen bee of fashion trends and also on the Spring Summer 2013 fashion runways .... singer Jessie J also rocks it in various colours, we love Jessie in the red leopard print .... see below !!
